Colombo (Sri Lanka) – One more Chinese spy ship ‘Shiang Yeng Haung-3’ will arrive in Sri Lanka in January 2024. Earlier Chinese spy ships, ‘ShiYan-6’ and one more ship, have docked at Sri Lankan ports. Both times India had objected, yet Sri Lanka granted permission to the ships to its port. In 2021, Indonesia caught ‘Shiang Yeng Haung-3’ sending their secret information to the Chinese Army.
China aims to create a route for its sub-marine warships
Sri Lankan defence experts give two reasons for the frequent presence of Chinese ships in Sri Lankan waters, one, to create a route for its sub-marine warships at sea, and second, to find minerals in the sea. This activity is taking place in close proximity to Indian borders under the pretext of research. China has planned to send two ships to Sri Lanka every year.
Editorial Perspective
Sri Lanka allows Chinese ships despite protests from India. Compared to China, Indian pressure is not affecting Sri Lanka as much. This situation is dangerous for India. |
