Holding up a poster of ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ outside Saudi Arabia’s Kaaba Mosque costs 99 lashes and 8 months imprisonment

New Delhi – In January 2023, Raza Qadri, a Youth Congress leader held up the poster of Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ outside the Kaaba in Saudi Arabia. This lead to his arrest and imprisonment under very severe conditions for 8 months. He also received 99 lashes.

Qadri returned to Bharat on 4th October and said that Indians are kept in the dirtiest part of the prison in Saudi Arabia. Qadri is a youth Congress leader of Niwari District in Madhya Pradesh. He had held up the ‘Bharat Jodo’ poster in front of Al Haram Mosque of Makka. He had photographed himself holding the poster and posted it on social media. He was arrested for insulting the Kaaba.
