We have denied permission for the Chinese ship to dock at our port in Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan Foreign Minister’s clarification

Colombo (Sri Lanka) – As far as I know we have not allowed a Chinese ship to enter our waters. The Indian security agencies had expressed concern over this ship. It was both appropriate and important to us. We have always said that we want to keep our territory safe, said Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Ali Sabry. India had opposed allowing the Chinese ship to come to Sri Lankan port for espionage purposes. There were also reports that Sri Lanka allowed the ship to dock at its port, but now officially Sri Lanka has said that it has not allowed the Chinese ship. The Chinese ship ‘Shi Yan 6’ was scheduled to dock at the port of Sri Lanka for the next 3 months in October. Last year, Sri Lanka allowed a Chinese spy ship to dock at its port.
