Electricity is less for Nepal, there is no point in exporting to India : China throws tantrums

Nepal sells electricity to India; China angry

Kathmandu (Nepal) – Recently, the Indian Government has decided that it will buy 10,000 MW electricity from Nepal in the next decade. Additionally, India’s Sutlej Hydropower Corporation will develop 900 MW Arun-3 and 490 MW Arun-4 hydro projects.

China has become enraged by the big electricity projects between India and Nepal. China’s Ambassador to Nepal, Cheng Song, made a scathing comment and said that if Nepal has less electricity for itself, then there is no point in exporting it to India. India’s policies are neither right nor beneficial for Nepal. (The policies of India have always proved to be beneficial for China. Nepal’s Prime Minister Prachanda was on a visit to India from 31st May to 3rd June. During this period, many agreements were signed with India, in which an agreement was also signed to export 10,000 MW
electricity. In addition, work is already going on for many other power projects. Nepal has immense potential of hydropower, which has the capacity of 86,000 MW electricity but imports electricity from India in winter.
