Calcutta HC Assistant Registrar faints while recording the verdict to remove Shivalinga

Calcutta – Jai Sengupta issued an order for the removal of a Shivalinga in a case concerning a land dispute in Murshidabad. However, during the process of registering the verdict, Assistant Registrar Biswanath Rai unexpectedly lost consciousness. Following this incident, the Judge reversed the initial decision and directed the case to be handled by the Lower Court. HC declared it would refrain from any further intervention in the matter.

Sudeep Pal and Govinda Mandal are in a land dispute concerning a piece of land situated in the Khidirpur village within the Beldanga region of Murshidabad District. In May 2023, Sudeep took his case to the High Court, claiming that Govinda had installed Shivalinga on the disputed land. According to Govinda, the Shivalinga was not installed by him, it emerged from the ground on its own.
