Sixteen people arrested in Bengal for cheating on the pretext of providing dating services

Kolkata (Bengal) – Bengal Police has arrested 16 people for operating fake Call Centre on the pretext of providing dating services. It includes 10 women and 6 men. While the women have been granted interim bail by the Court, the men were granted Police custody till 8th August.

Acting on credible source information, the Police raided a flat in a building in Poddar Nagar, under Jadavpur and arrested 4 women and a man. These accused were sending messages using mobile phones to people by posing as employees of dating websites. If someone responded, they were extorting money from them in the name of website registration. The accused were sending pictures of young women downloaded from various websites to the victims claiming that the women they choose would entertain them. Once the victims selected a photograph, the accused used to extort 5 to 15 thousand rupees from them in the name of privacy fees, hotel booking, etc. However, after receiving the money, the accused were not providing any service to the victims.
