Uproar over Abaya thrown in a school-play in Saudi Arabia

Education Officer orders inquiry

Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) – In a school-play ‘Horizon’ act, a character in the play throws away her Abaya and heads towards light while walking over it. It led to a dispute. The Education Officer has an inquiry into it.

Editorial perspective

It is disgraceful that in India, Burqa is taken as a symbol of individual freedom, whereas veil like Abaya is opposed in a place like Saudi Arabia, the home of Islam.
