External Affairs Minister Jaishankar

New Delhi – “Simply appalled at your tweet! There are lives at stake; don’t do politics. Since the fighting started on April 14th, the Embassy of India in Khartoum has been continuously in touch with most Indian Nationals and PIOs in Sudan”, tweeted the External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar in response to the tweet of Congress leader Siddaramaiah, “Hakki Pikkis in Sudan are left stranded without food since the last few days & the govt is yet to initiate action to bring them back. @BJP4India govt should immediately open diplomatic discussions & reach out to international agencies to ensure the well-being of Hakki Pikkis”.

The Indian embassy in Sudan has advised Indians to be alert in the prevailing situation in Sudan. The Indians are advised to be at home, not to venture out unnecessarily, and pay attention to the information released by the Embassy. It also appealed to the Indians, who are planning to go to Sudan, to postpone their visit.

Jaishankar informed in his tweet about having discussions on this issue, over the phone, with Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, and United Arab Emirate’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
