Turkiye sings the same tune as Pakistan on Kashmir issue at UNHRC

India’s firm response to Turkiye

Seema Punjani, India’s representative

New Delhi – Turkiye along with Pakistan and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) accused India of violating human rights in Jammu and Kashmir. A befitting response was given by India to Pakistan, the Organisation of Islamic Countries, and Turkiye in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).

1. Seema Pujani, India’s representative at UNHRC, replied to the accusation against India. She said that “Pakistan’s obsession with India while its population battles for their lives, livelihoods, and freedom is an indication of the state’s misplaced priorities. I would advise its leadership and officials to focus their energies on working for the benefit of their population instead of baseless propaganda.”

2. She expressed regret over Turkiye’s stand and said, “The comments made by Turkiye on a matter that is an internal affair of India”.  She advised it to refrain from making unsolicited comments on our internal matters.

3. In regards to the OIC statement, she said, “We reject the unwarranted references to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The fact is that the entire Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have been, are, and shall always be part of India. Pakistan is in illegal occupation of Indian territory. Instead of calling upon its member Pakistan to give up state-sponsored terrorism and to lift its occupation of Indian territory, OIC has let Pakistan hijack and misuse its platform for carrying out its nefarious agenda of engaging in malicious propaganda against India.”

Editorial viewpoints

  • Turkiye proves the proverbial saying that a leopard can’t change its spots. Even though India helped Turkiye during the earthquake, it continues to support Pakistan.
  • Indians believe that now should stop providing aid to such anti-India countries.
