Survey operations conducted by Income Tax Dept at BBC’s Delhi and Mumbai offices

Opposition parties criticise BJP

New Delhi – A team of 60–70 I-T officers reached BBC’s offices in 30 places in India, including Delhi and Mumbai, for carrying out survey operations. The survey has been started on the morning of 14th of February 2023. The Income Tax Department has clarified that these were not raids, but only surveys. BBC accounts are being examined under the survey. I-T officers switched off the mobile phones of BBC staff members during the search, and they were not allowed to leave or enter the office premises. As per the information given by the sources in Income Tax Department, BBC is suspected to have irregularities in the payment of international taxes, therefore, this survey is undertaken.

1. Congress has criticised these inspections through its tweet as it is an undeclared emergency. Congress’ General Secretary Jairam Ramesh stated that the Congress was demanding a parliamentary inquiry into the Adani issue while the Government is after BBC. Often in the wake of impending doom. even your intellect gives up on you ! (One international news company is maligning Indiaian Prime Minister’s image; therefore, it is expected of all parties to keep aside internal differences and oppose unitedly; instead, however, the anti-national Congress is making statements harmful to the country ! – Editor)

What is BBC ?

British Broadcasting Company, i.e., BBC, is a company of the British Government. It broadcasts news in 40 languages. It is run on grants approved by the British parliament. Its management is with the external affairs and commonwealth offices. BBC works with different departments such as digital, culture, media, and sports. BBC was started in 1927.

Congress too had imposed a ban on BBC ! – BJP

Regarding these surveys, BJP has stated Congress needs to remember that even Indira Gandhi had imposed a ban on BBC. Every company is allowed to work in India by abiding by our laws; but there should not be any hidden policy or agenda. BJP asked, why does Congress always support China, BBC, and terrorists; why doesn’t Congress wait for the reports to be submitted by Income Tax Department on such surveys; why is Congress deciding about the outcome of such surveys in the beginning ?

If anti-India and anti-Hindu BBC is involved in any illegal activity, it has to be investigated ! Stringent action needs to be taken against malpractices, if any, carried out by BBC despite functioning within India !
