Pakistani cleric issues fatwa following attacks of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan

Only the head of Islamic State has the right to declare jihad

Islamabad (Pakistan) – Prominent clerics in Pakistan have issued a 14-page fatwa against terrorism, condemning terrorism. According to him, only the Islamic State has the right to declare jihad. After the Tehrik-e-Taliban (TTP) intensified attacks on security forces in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan Provinces, a fatwa was issued.

Several madrasas in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, including Darul Uloom Peshawar and Jamia Darul Uloom Haqqania, have issued fatwas. It says that anyone taking arms against the Police and Army of the state is against Sharia law and against the Country. Anyone who rebels against the constitution and laws of Pakistan will be punished according to the law. Not everyone has the right to declare jihad. This privilege belongs only to the head of the Islamic State.

Editorial viewpoints

  • How did Pakistani clerics never realised this when Pakistan was carrying out jihadi terrorism for the last 3 decades in India ? But now when the same terrorism started engulfing Pakistan itself, the clerics of Pakistan have awakened and started to understand the supposedly true meaning of Jihad.
  • The Islamic State is responsible for killing many people so far. If Pakistani clerics call it jihad (holy war), then true Islamists protest against it and quote it as a betrayal of Islam.
