One in five teenagers post nude selfies of themselves on social media

Los Angeles (USA) – A report has been published by Thorn, a Non-Governmental Organisation. Thorn is known for its computerised systems for preventing online sexual exploitation of children. Report states that 1 in 5 teenagers post a nude selfie of themselves on social media broadcasts.

These children circulate such pictures on their own. In some cases, they do so on the demand of their friends or they are also under pressure. Most of the time these children do not know where these pictures will get circulated.

In 2019, Thorn interviewed more than 1,000 children between the ages of 9 and 17 for this report. There has been a steady increase in the number of such pictures circulated since 2019.
