A great loss to Facebook

New York – In the survey made by PEW Research in the US, it was found that ‘Generation Z’ meaning those born between 1997 and 2012 were not active on social media, especially on Facebook. The survey by Pew Research Centre found that these youth were losing faith in friendship in the virtual world. On the other hand, in the survey conducted by the US, it was found that Millennials meaning those born between 1981 to 1996 that is between the age group 26 to 41 years were using Facebook very regularly.

Another survey conducted by Pew Research Centre in England found that watching videos had become more popular among these youth.

1. In the survey in the US, it was found that 32% of youth in the 13 to 17 years age group use Facebook regularly. In 2014 -15 this was 71%. At that time social media such as ‘Instagram’ and ‘Snapchat’ was more popular.

2. This decrease among US youth was not sudden. In the last 5 years, the use of Facebook among youth kept dwindling every passing year.

3. When information started leaking from social media in the last few years and the danger of people’s personal details being exposed increased proportionately, the survey showed a lack of interest in ‘Generation Z’.

4. They get fed up of social media quickly. Therefore social media are making novel changes on their websites to attract youth.
