By mistake, I called President Droupadi Murmu as ‘Rashtrapatni’

Fabricated explanation by Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury

New Delhi – After insulting President Droupadi Murmu in Parliament on 27th July, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury later gave a dumb clarification. Retorting to the BJP’s demand of ‘apologies to the country’, Chowdhury said, by mistake, I called Droupadi Murmu ‘Rashtrapatni’, if you want to hang me, do it. The ruling parties are trying to create unnecessary controversy, he said.

The women MPs of the BJP created an uproar in the House on Chowdhury’s statement. Congress is anti-poor and anti-tribal. Instead of apologising for its own mistakes, Congress is grumbling. Sonia Gandhi should apologise on behalf of Congress. Congress has insulted every Indian citizen, said BJP MP and Minister Smriti Irani. After this, Sonia Gandhi expressed her reaction in front of the media that Chowdhury has already accepted his mistake.

So far, 24 MPs have been suspended due to causing ruckus

In the ongoing session, the opposition has continuously raised the issue of inflation and GST. Due to this, 4 Lok Sabha MPs and 20 Rajya Sabha MPs have been suspended so far.

What did Adhir Ranjan Chawdhury say ?

On 27th July, media asked Chowdhury, are you going to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, to which he said that India’s ‘Rashtrapatni’ is for everyone, then why can’t I go ?

Editorial Viewpoints

  • MPs who make outrageous statements about the President should be sacked from their membership.
  •  It is beyond imagination how the leaders who openly makes offensive statements about the person who holds the highest post in the country must be behaving with the common citizens. It is shameful for people to have such MP.
