Rana was honey-trapped by 2 Pakistani girls. The soldier was under surveillance by the Army following a confidential tip-off from the Rajasthan Police’s intelligence wing. Rana provided important information about the Indian Army to Pakistan’s intelligence agencies through WhatsApp. After providing information, money was transferred online to his bank account. Shantimoy Rana is a resident of Kanchanpur village in Bankuda District of West Bengal. He joined the army in March 2018.

For the past few months, Rana was in touch with these two young women through social media. Both the young women lured Rana into a trap with fake names. While making friends, they falsely claimed to be residents of Uttar Pradesh and serving in the army. One girl introduced herself as Gurnoor Gaur alias Ankita, while another told her name was Nisha. After befriending Rana, both women lured him with money and sought information about the Indian Army, including photographs of confidential military documents and videos of military exercises. Accordingly, Rana sent them videos and photographs.

  • Along with physical training, soldiers are now required to be educated on how harmful it is for the country to fall into the honeytrap of young women in this manner !
