New Delhi – Fifteen Islamic countries now, have opposed Nupur Sharma’s alleged insulting remark about Prophet Mohammad. These include Qatar, Iran, Kuwait, UAE, Indonesia, Maldives, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Afghanistan, Jordan, Oman, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Malaysia.

1. The Maldives Foreign Ministry has condemned Nupur Sharma’s statement and welcomed the BJP’s suspension of Sharma. Opposition in the Maldives had earlier moved a motion in this regard however, it was not approved. Maldives opposition leader Adam Sharif Umar said it was surprising that the ruling party had not commented on it.
2. The Sheikh Hasina Government in Bangladesh has not commented on the matter. Sheikh Hasina protested when Durga Puja pandals were vandalised in Bangladesh last year. There should be no such activities in India, which will affect the Hindus in Bangladesh, she said.
