Stop offering namaz in Bhojshala in MP and consecrate Goddess Shri Saraswati Devi`s Idol – Petition filed Indore HC

High Court issues notice to 8 people including Central Government

Dhar (MP) – Bhojshala in Madhya Pradesh is an ancient temple of the Goddess Saraswati Devi. A petition has been filed in Indore High Court to reinstall and consecrate the Goddess Shri Saraswati Devi’s Idol and stop offering namaz on the temple premises. The petition also seeks to have filming and photography of the Bhojshala. The High Court has issued notices to 8 entities including the Central Government, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Kamal Maula Welfare Society, Bhojshala Committee, District Collector, etc.

  1. Public interest litigation was filed by the Hindu Front for Justice organisation President Ranjana Agnihotri, Kuldeep Tiwari, Mohit Garg, Ashish Goyal, Sunil Shashwat, and Rohit Khandelwal. The petition was filed through H.H. (Adv.) Harishankar Jain, Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain and Advocate Parth. 33 photographs of Bhojshala were presented. In this photograph, there are pictures of Deities and Sanskrut verses that can be seen in the Bhojshala.
  2. H.H. (Adv.) Harishankar Jain said that this is an ancient temple of Goddess Saraswati, Kalam Maula Mosque was built later. Bhojshala was built in the Raja Bhoj era. In those days, Bhojshala was the centre of education.
  3. Currently, as per the arrangement made by the administration, Hindus perform puja on the premises every Tuesday, while Muslims offer namaz in the complex on Fridays.

Demand to bring back the Goddess Shri Wagdevi Idol from London

The petitioners have also demanded that the ancient Idol of the Goddess Shri Wagdevi (Shri Saraswati), which is in a museum in London, be brought back to India. Ranjana Agnihotri said that the Court has accepted our petition and issued notice to the concerned.
