Northeast groups oppose Centre’s move to make Hindi compulsory subject up to 10th Standard

Editorial comment

Those who believe that Sanskrut is the mother of all languages, feel that the Centre should make Sanskrut compulsory in India.

Guwahati (Assam) – The Centre has made Hindi a compulsory subject up to the 10th Standard in the North-eastern States. Many organisations along with Assam Sahitya Sabha have opposed this decision and have demanded that it should be revoked immediately.

Opposition parties commented that it was a step toward Cultural Imperialism. Congress, Assam National Council (Jatiy Parishad) and other opposition parties have made a demand to revoke the decision immediately as it was not in the interest of the people.
