On the 2nd of April 2022, the students had gathered on the terrace of the hostel of Jagannathpur Government Polytechnic College to celebrate the first day of Hindu New Year. Few students raised slogans of Jai Shriram and Bharatmata ki Jai during the celebrations. This led to infuriating students from a certain so-called secular community. (Those, who cannot tolerate slogans of Jai Shriram, should leave this country ! – Editor) They complained to the Principal of the college. He rusticated a student who was leading the function and suspended the other two students. The College management has justified its action by claiming that there are students belonging to different religions in the college; therefore, those, who didn’t follow the discipline, were removed.
