Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma urges centre to ban PFI for ‘subversive activities & radicalisation’

Editorial Comment

The anti-national activities of PFI are continuing unabated. There is no doubt about its nefarious intentions. It will not be surprising if patriots feel that such organisations enjoy political patronage, and this is why they continue to function.

Guwahati (Assam) – The Assam Government has demanded that the Popular Front of India (PFI) be completely and immediately banned, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on 19th February. He maintained that the request was not because of PFI’s stand on the Hijab issue, but that the PFI should be banned because of its direct involvement with subversive activities and radicalisation.

Ahmedabad blasts case : Death penalty to 38 convicts, life imprisonment for 11

A Special Court on 18th February ordered the death penalty to 38 convicts in the Ahmedabad blasts case, while 11 others were awarded life imprisonment. As many as 21 explosions ripped through Ahmedabad on 26th July 2008, within a space of 70 minutes. (It has taken almost 14 years to reach here in such a serious case. If the Judiciary does not take corrective steps to provide speedy justice, such people will continue to function with impunity, without the fear of law. – Editor)

The 38 convicts have been convicted under IPC Sections 302 (murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) and under provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The kin of those who died in the blasts has been awarded compensation of Rs 1 lakh each, Rs 50,000 to those who sustained serious injuries and Rs 25,000 to those who received minor injuries.

“I can say that this is the case in which the highest number of convicts were awarded death sentence. Earlier, in one case 26 people were given death sentence. But in this case, the number is 38”, the Public Prosecutor said. (It is repeatedly proved who indulges in such henious crimes. Yet, the secularists and so-called progressives keep pointing fingers at docile Hindus ! – Editor)

PFI wades into Ahmedabad blast court verdict

PFI has cried foul over the 2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts. PFI Chairman OMA Salam stated that the verdict in the case is a result of a tainted process, questionable investigation and draconian laws. (PFI openly disagrees with the judicial process and laws of the country ! How will such organisations be allowed to function ? Assam CM has spoken about PFI, and the Central Government is expected to do the needful at the earliest. – Editor)

“Even people who were in the Middle East and in prisons while the blasts took place were indicted. Sentencing 38 people to death so casually in such a tainted case certainly is not in the interest of justice”, a PFI press release said. (It is laughable that PFI talks of justice ! This is like the theif accusing a Policeman ! – Editor)
