Indian Classical Music Therapy is very effective on various ailments

Research conducted by Mr Clarke under the guidance of Paratpar Guru (Dr) Athavale (Founder of MAV)

Maharshi Adhyatma Vishwavidyalay (MAV) conducts novel spiritual research using Universal Aura Scanner

The Maharshi Adhyatma Vishwavidyalay, located in Goa, India has been involved in over 40 years of spiritual research about the spiritual dimension and subtle energies and how they affect a person’s life ubiquitously. The intention is to help people make more informed decisions besides gaining a holistic understanding of life. To this end, we have been publishing our research on the website www.spiritual.university and www.ssrf.org along with publishing papers at National and International Conferences about various findings and phenomena from the spiritual perspective.

We have presented here some important theoretical aspects and the brief of one experiment which Maharshi Adhyatma Vishwavidyalay conducted on the effect of music on one ailment. For details and more information, please visit the websites mentioned above.

Mr Sean Clarke

Mumbai – The Maharshi Adhyatma Vishwavidyalay has conducted research on people who have high blood pressure (hypertension) to find out if music that is sattvik (Spiritually pure) can help an individual cure diseases and reduce his dependence on drugs. The research found that spiritually positive sounds or music can help a person overcome various ailments, and also that Indian music therapy is more effective than foreign music therapy, asserted Mr Sean Clarke (who is at the spiritual level of 64%). He was speaking at a Facebook Webinar on ‘Music Therapy for Health’ hosted by www.hinduscriptures.com.

The Webinar was organised by Mrs Vaishali Shah (Founder of the website and author of the book ‘The Hindu Culture and Lifestyle). The research conducted by Mr Clarke under the guidance of Paratpar Guru (Dr) Jayant Balaji Athavale (Founder of Maharshi Adhyatma Vishwavidyalay) to study the spiritual effects of music on an individual was presented in this Webinar.

The primary purpose was to understand how sound can help us grow spiritually and provide a positive spiritual healing energy. Therefore, apart from songs and tunes of all genres, the spiritual research also included studying the effect of chanting the Name of God, mantras and Beejamantras.

What is energy from sound and how effective is it ? In physics, it is a well-known fact that it is not easy to harvest energy from sound waves and that sound does not have the ability to produce heat or electricity. Engineers say that harvesting any acoustic noise is more about mechanical vibrations than the sound itself. An article on a physics website physicscentral.com puts things in perspective. It says to heat up a 250 ml cup of coffee by 50°C, with energy produced just through yelling continuously at 80 decibels, it would take more than 1.5 years.

However, from the spiritual perspective, sound has spiritual energy associated with it and is a manifestation of the most powerful of Cosmic Principles which is the Akashtattva (Absolute Ether Principle). However, sound and music can emit positive or negative subtle energy. This creates positive or negative vibrations which can affect our aura, our chakras and it can also affect the 5 Absolute Cosmic Principles.

When we hear sound, it is at the level of the Akashtattva and is also the most subtle and the most powerful of all the other Principles. So, if music emits negative vibrations through the Akashtattva, it will affect us negatively.

Ancient Indian Scriptures say that all of Creation is made up of 3 subtle basic components known as Sattva, Raja and Tama. And unknown to modern sciences, they are in all things living and non-living, tangible and intangible. Sattva stands for purity and knowledge and enhances spiritual positivity, Tama stands for ignorance and inertia and enhances spiritual negativity and Raja stands for action and provides Sattva and Tama the ability to spread. Music too is governed by these 3 components. Sattvik music will give rise to spiritually positive vibrations whilst Tamasik music, however catchy the beat maybe, will give rise to spiritually negative vibrations which will have a detrimental effect on our aura and invite negative energies to trouble us.

The aura is the energy field of any person or object and it is subtle in nature. Its nature is determined by the spiritual purity or impurity in our body, mind and intellect. Its extent and nature also depend on our spiritual level and spiritual state – the more advanced the spiritual level, the more positive the aura is.

Mr Sean Clarke went on to say :

1. To study the effect of music on an individual, 5 people who had high blood pressure problem were asked to listen to the Raga ‘Gorakh Kalyan’ in Indian classical form for an hour. According to some music experts, ‘Gorakh Kalyan’ is a Raga useful for lowering blood pressure. The Raga performer, Mr Pradeep Chitnis (who is at the spiritual level of 61%), was spiritually positive. Forty-eight hours before the experiment, the prescribed hypertension drugs of the participants were discontinued with due care under the guidance of a medical expert.

2. The blood pressure of the participants was measured before and after listening to Raga ‘Gorakh Kalyan’, and the effect of music on their positive or negative energy was studied with the ‘Universal Aura Scanner’ (UAS). After listening to this Raga, everyone’s blood pressure was measured the next morning. At that time, the blood pressure of 4 out of 5 people was lower than their blood pressure before listening to the Raga. The blood pressure of one individual remained normal. It is unique that the increased blood pressure had reduced and this state lasted 72 hours without medication.

3. After listening to the Raga, negative energy of the individuals reduced by an average of 60% and their positive energy increased by an average of 155%.

4. Other tests were conducted to show the effect of this type of music. This research also included Weightless ‘relaxed music’ from the British band ‘Marconi Union’. The blood pressure of 2 individuals reduced after this experiment; however, their pulse rate increased. In the test with UAS, their negativity increased by an average of 53%, while the positive effect on one individual reduced by 53% and the positive effect of the other reduced completely.

5. It is realised that Indian classical music and Nada (Vibrations) therapy reduce the ailments and increase the positive effects on the individual. Although foreign music reduces discomfort, positivity reduces and negativity increases.

Conclusions

A. Music affects us not only psychologically but also spiritually. It is important that we listen to sattvik music to get its real benefit.

B. For those researching music therapy for well-being it is important to include the spiritual dimension also. Music should bring about a positive change not only physiologically, but more importantly it should do so at the spiritual level as well.

C. Music therapy is something that medical sciences should consider as it costs nothing but has immense benefits

D. If one is spiritually positive then spiritual healing remedies can affect us faster.

E. Ultimately music only provides symptomatic cure; for permanent cure from spiritual problems such as destiny and negative energies can only be overcome by regular spiritual practice that is aligned to Universal spiritual principles.
