Need of a booster dose due to the reduced effect of Covishield within 3 months ! : Conclusion by the researchers 

New Delhi – According to the report published in the journal ‘Lancet’, ‘those who have taken both doses of the Covishield coronavirus vaccine need to take a booster dose to avoid getting infected by the coronavirus. The effect of the Covishield vaccine reduces within 3 months.’ The report is based on a survey in Brazil and Scotland. In India, maximum number of people have taken the Covishield vaccine. Hence, this report is worrying for Indians.

  1. According to the report, the information of 20 lakh people from Scotland, who have been vaccinated by both the coronavirus doses and 4 crore 20 lakhs from Brazil, has been compiled. The effect of the Covishield coronavirus vaccine reduces within 3 months. In this period, the possibility of getting admitted to the hospital or vulnerability to death, is doubled compared to the 2 weeks after the 2nd dose of the vaccine. 4 months after the 2nd dose of vaccine, this possibility gets doubled.
  2. Ajij Shaikh, Principal of a university in Britain, said that there is a risk of the vaccinated as well those who have not been vaccinated, coming to an equal level. If the period of the waning effect of the coronavirus vaccine could be known, it will be easier for the Government to decide, when to start the booster dose.
