Growing population hinders development : Yogi Adityanath

India is on a verge of a population explosion due to the inaction of the ruling parties in the past 74 years of Independence. Attempts to control the population now are expected to have at least some effect.

Lucknow (UP) – Uttar Pradesh Government has released the new population policy draft for 2021-2030 on the occasion of World Population Day on 11th July. While unveiling the policy at the inauguration event, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that an increasing population was a ‘hurdle in development’ and more efforts are needed to control it.

Yogi Adityanath said,

1. The role of awareness about this is very important. Population policy is related to every citizen. Population growth is also related to poverty. There should be a gap between two children to control the population in the State. If there is no appropriate gap, it will affect the children’s nourishment.

2. Every community has been taken care of in Population Policy 2021-2030. It is not only related to population control but paving a way for happiness and prosperity in the life of every citizen.

What does the UP Government’s proposed Population Policy involve?

Through the proposed policy, efforts will be made to increase the accessibility of contraceptive measures issued under the Family Planning Programme and provide a proper system for safe abortion. Comprehensive arrangements will be made for the care of the elderly, apart from better management of education, health, and nutrition of adolescents in the age group of 11 to 19 years.
