Not a single temple built in Pakistan after partition!

  • Old and ancient temples are under the control of land mafia
  • What else can be expected from an Islamic country like Pakistan? It should be noted that none of the so-called seculars and intellectuals in India will utter a word regarding this.

Islamabad (Pakistan) – A newspaper, ‘Divya Marathi’ has reported that, ‘According to Tariq Wazir of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) of Pakistan, which is responsible for the maintenance of Hindu and Sikh religious sites after their migration to India, not a single temple has been built in the country since Independence, while 286 temples remain closed due to litigation. Historic temples lie in ruins. The Government does not even help in the maintenance and repair of these temples.

About 2.5% (75 lakh) of Pakistan’s population is Hindu. Despite such a large number, no temple has been built in Pakistan even after 74 years of Partition. The situation is such that many religious places, including 2000-year old historic temples, are under the control of the land mafia.

In December last year, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam militants set fire to a temple in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Supreme Court then set up a commission to investigate the status of minority religious sites’.

Panj Tirath: A park built on the site of a millennia old temple

The ancient temple Panj Tirath in Peshawar was declared a national heritage site in 2019 and was declared open for worship. However, that did not happen. The director of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Museum, Dr. Abdul Samad says that Panj Tirath is mentioned in ‘Mahabharata’ and other sacred texts. There were five kunds named after the Pandavas in the temple area. But now only their remains are left. The area was encroached upon and the Chacha Yunus Park was built there.

“All of Lahore’s Gurudwaras look like Gurudwaras, its churches look like churches, and its mosques look like mosques. Why doesn’t a Hindu temple look like a temple ?”, asked an anguished Hindu resident of Lahore.
