Shouting and abusing
While going with the Guru, if the disciple walks ahead, the Guru shouts, ‘Why are you walking ahead of me ?’ If the disciple walks behind Him, He shouts, ‘Despite being my disciple why are you lagging behind ?’ If the disciple walks beside Him, He shouts, ‘Are you trying to be my equal ?’
Question : In all this, what is the purpose underlying the Guru’s behaviour ?
Saint Bhaktaraj Maharaj : When the Guru shouts on a point like this, the point is actually unimportant. The disciple should continue his chanting and not feel unhappy about the Guru’s scolding. That is the purpose of the Guru’s teaching.
