Why isn’t Government funding to madarasas itself stopped?

Lakshmanpuri (U.P) – Instances of corruption inGovernment funded madarasas in Uttar Pradesh have been revealed. There are also some scams with regard to intake of teachers and also number of students in various madarasas. These irregularities came to the fore due to an RTI application. Now the state government has ordered that an inquiry be conducted by a special committee. It is estimated that over 400 madarasas in the districts of Mirzapur and Azamgadh have been swindling the government.

The inquiry will be conducted via in person spot checks in each madarasato verify differences between the ground reality and documents. The ‘Police records’ of the teachers and students in these madarasas will all be examined. (When these rules are mandatory, how can the Government not follow them and yet consent to the funding of these madarasas? An inquiry should also be conducted on those responsible for such incidents! – Editor)
