American actress Cardi B and Reebok denigrate Shri Durgadevi

• The footwear ad depicts Shri Durgadevi carrying a shoe in hands!
• Enraged Hindus respond with heavy criticism!

Hindus expect the Government of India to intervene and stop such events taking place anywhere in the world in which Hindu Deities are portrayed in disrespectful manner! Hindus should persuade the Government for this!

New Delhi – American rapper Cardi B and a footwear company Reebok have denigrated Shri Durgadevi in an advertisement campaign. An image (See on the right side) depicting Shri Durgadevi with eight arms and carrying a shoe has been published. This has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. Soon after the advertisement was published, it received heavy flak from enraged Hindus.

The caption of the image reads, “In this dress, she pays homage to Durga, the Hindu goddess, whose symbols of protection and inner strength resonates as much in modern times as they have through the centuries. Like Durga, Cardi B is a dominant female voice at a critical time”. (By comparing herself with the supreme Hindu Deity Shri Durgadevi, Cardi B has disrespected the Hindu deity! Enraged and provoked Hindus have strongly criticised the ad through social media. Some Hindus, while expressing distaste said, “The image depicts Shri Durgadevi in a disgraceful manner while the goddess is widely worshipped in Hinduism. Wearing footwear in Hindu temple is prohibited, whereas the image depicts the goddess carrying the shoe. This is not homage, it is disrespect”.
