“If you think Holi colours will harm your religion, then stay indoors on that day”

Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh) Chief Police Officer Anuj Chaudhary’s message to Muslims

Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh) – Ahead of Holi, a peace committee meeting was organised in Sambhal district, where Chief Police Officer Anuj Chaudhary issued strict instructions. This year, Holi falls on a Friday, and in this context, he stated:

“Jumma comes 52 times a year, while Holi comes only once. If Muslims believe that Holi colours will harm their religion, then they should stay indoors on that day. If you respect your religion, then respect the religion of others as well.”

The peace committee meeting was attended by people from both Hindu and Muslim communities.

“We will not allow lawlessness on Holi”

Anuj Chaudhary further stated, “Anyone found committing misdeeds on Holi will not be rewarded. We will not allow peace and order to be disturbed in Sambhal. If people step out on Holi, they should have the broad-mindedness to accept that everyone is equal.”

He added, “Just as the Muslim community eagerly awaits Eid throughout the year, the Hindu community eagerly waits for Holi. Holi is celebrated by throwing colours and sharing sweets, while Eid is celebrated by making ‘seviyan’ and visiting each other’s homes. Therefore, everyone should respect each other’s traditions.”

Editorial Perspective

It is only because of a Chief Minister like Yogi Adityanath that the Police can instruct people to follow the law and bring offenders in line. This proves the saying, ‘Raja Kaalasya Karanam’ (A ruler shapes the era) ! Such leaders are needed everywhere.
