Jammu Administration demolishes ten shops of Hindus without any notice

Jammu (Jammu-Kashmir) – On 20th November 2024, Jammu Development Authority (JDA) demolished shops of migrated Hindus near Muthi Camp in the city; therefore, agitations are being staged. The aggrieved Hindus informed that the shops were demolished without serving any prior notice. The shops have existed since the last three decades and were set up by the migrated Hindus.

JDA has claimed that the shops were built on its land. Arvind Karwani, the Relief Commissioner visited the site and assured the affected families that new shops would be constructed for them in the area. The shops were on JDA’s land. Tenders have been issued for construction of a commercial complex in Muthi Camp Phase-II by an organisation named ‘Rahat’. Soon, ten shops would be built and allotted to the aggrieved shopkeepers.

Kuldeep Kisaroo, one of the shop owners stated that instead of helping us to survive by providing us better facilities and financial support, the Government has snatched our bread and butter by bulldozing our shops.

Jav Lal Bhat, another shopkeeper stated that the families were solely dependent on the earnings from these shops; so, how can we feed our families now ? He appealed to the Lieutenant Governor and the Chief Minister to intervene and do justice to them.

Jawahir Lal is another shopkeeper who referred to this action as ‘sheer hooliganism’ and stated that no notice was served to any shopkeeper before taking such an action.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Please note that the fake secular political parties make hue and cry about demolition of unauthorised structures of criminals in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, etc; but they never say a word about demolition of innocent Hindus’ shops without any notice.
  • The Supreme Court has passed a verdict against demolition of any structure without serving proper notice. Still, such an action by Jammu Administration clearly shows Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s Government is deliberately targeting Hindus.
