Jammu (Jammu-Kashmir) – On 20th November 2024, Jammu Development Authority (JDA) demolished shops of migrated Hindus near Muthi Camp in the city; therefore, agitations are being staged. The aggrieved Hindus informed that the shops were demolished without serving any prior notice. The shops have existed since the last three decades and were set up by the migrated Hindus.
JDA has claimed that the shops were built on its land. Arvind Karwani, the Relief Commissioner visited the site and assured the affected families that new shops would be constructed for them in the area. The shops were on JDA’s land. Tenders have been issued for construction of a commercial complex in Muthi Camp Phase-II by an organisation named ‘Rahat’. Soon, ten shops would be built and allotted to the aggrieved shopkeepers.
🚨 10 Hindu-owned shops in Jammu were bulldozed without any prior notice! 🚧🏢
Despite the Supreme Court’s directive that no construction should be demolished without prior notice, the Jammu administration’s actions clearly indicate that Hindus are being deliberately targeted… pic.twitter.com/rmLWRWI3rD

Kuldeep Kisaroo, one of the shop owners stated that instead of helping us to survive by providing us better facilities and financial support, the Government has snatched our bread and butter by bulldozing our shops.
Jav Lal Bhat, another shopkeeper stated that the families were solely dependent on the earnings from these shops; so, how can we feed our families now ? He appealed to the Lieutenant Governor and the Chief Minister to intervene and do justice to them.
Jawahir Lal is another shopkeeper who referred to this action as ‘sheer hooliganism’ and stated that no notice was served to any shopkeeper before taking such an action.
