5 Naxals killed and a soldier injured in the forests of Gadchiroli

Gadchiroli, Maharashtra – The Police have successfully disrupted the Naxals plan of creating fear among the people of Gadchiroli keeping in mind the forthcoming State elections. In the 10 hour long encounter between the Police and the Naxals, at Koparshi forests in Bhamragadh taluka which is near the border with Chhattisgarh, 5 naxals were killed. One jawan was injured in this battle and he is undergoing treatment.

While anti-naxal operations was going on in the Koparshi forest the naxals opened fire on the Police. The encounter between the police and Naxals began in the morning of 21st of October and it continued till 4 p.m. next day. These encounters happened at 2 different places in the forest and the Police gave a strong opposition and fight to the attacks.

Neelotpal the Superintendent of Police sent 2 squads and 22 teams of C-60 Commandos under the leadership of Upper Superintendent Yatesh Deshmukh, and Upper Superintendent M Ramesh into the Koparshi forest. Police Superintendent said that they undertook a successful operation against the Naxalites in two different places in the forest.

  • None of the governments till now have been able to end the Naxal movements all these years. It is their failure.
  • Why does the Government and its administration not realise that such incidents will not stop till the Naxal movement is completely dismantled ? However, to achieve that the Administration will have to take concrete measures.
