Srinagar (J&K) – MP Engineer Rashid of the Awami Ittehad Party, has made a serious claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi revoked Article 370 in Kashmir only after consulting the Abdullah family. He accused the BJP of supporting the National Conference, which he claims is why the party’s candidates won in the Kashmir Valley. He further alleged that everything was pre-planned.
Rashid further said that just three days before Modi revoked Article 370, he met with Farooq Abdullah. Abdullah reportedly said that nothing would happen; however, Article 370 was ultimately revoked. Following this, Farooq and his son Omar were placed in a Government guesthouse, suggesting they were in support of the Union Government’s decision.
Who is Engineer Rashid ?
Engineer Rashid was arrested in 2016 under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act for allegedly providing financial support to terrorists in Jammu-Kashmir. He won the Lok Sabha elections held in May 2024 from prison, defeating Omar Abdullah, the newly appointed Chief Minister of Jammu-Kashmir, in the Baramulla constituency. On 10thSeptember 2024, the Delhi Court granted him interim bail.
