Bengaluru (Karnataka) – A Pakistani family has been illegally staying here for the last 6 years by taking a fake Hindu surname ‘Sharma’. The Police arrested Rashid Ali Siddiqui (48 yrs), his wife Ayesha (36 yrs) and his in-laws Hanif Mahammad (73 yrs) and Rubina (61 yrs) from Rajpura village. They had changed their names to Shankar Sharma, Asha Rani, Ram Babu Sharma and Rani Sharma respectively.

1. 2 Pakistani citizens from Bangladesh, had landed at Chennai Airport. The Airport Authorities suspected something foul. During interrogation, the authorities found out that their passports were fake, and they were related to an individual named Siddiqui.

2. Bengaluru Police went to Siddiqi’s house. They found out that he was living in Bengaluru since 2018, and his passport and Aadhaar card had Hindu names.

3. When the Police searched his house, they found, ‘Mehedi Foundation International Jashna-E-Yunus’ written on the wall. There were pictures of some maulavis too.

4. After a thorough inquiry, Siddiqui admitted to being a Pakistani. He is from Liyaquatabad, near Karachi. His family is in Lahore. He has married Ayesha from Bangladesh in 2011 through an online bureau. Siddiqui was exiled from Pakistan because he was involved with the religious work for Mehedi
Foundation.

5. Siddiqui shifted to Bangladesh and re-started religious activities with the expenses supported by Mehedi Foundation. In 2014, he had to face protest in Bangladesh for his work. Therefore, he contacted Parvez in India who was also connected to Mehedi Foundation. With the support of a broker in Malda,
Bengal, Siddiqui, his wife, in-laws, relatives Zainbi Noor and Mohammad Yasin entered India illegally. They stayed in Delhi for a few days. Later they got fake passport, Aadhar card and driving licence with fake surname, Sharma.

Editorial Perspective

This is a failure of Indian Security Agencies. It cannot even be imagined how many more such Pakistani and Bangladeshi families are living in India. How can such a country ever be safe ?
