Bengaluru (Karnataka) – The Karnataka Congress Government has withheld the previously announced ‘Best Principal Award’ to B G Ramakrishna, the principal of the Government College in Kundapur, Udupi, following protests from the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI). SDPI is the political wing of the banned terrorist organisation, Popular Front of India (PFI). The award was a part of the ‘Best Teacher/Principal Awards’ announced for 41 educators on 5th September, i.e. Teachers’ Day.

Concern over how Ramakrishna treated students : Karnataka Education Minister

Karnataka’s Education Minister, Madhu Bangarappa, echoed the SDPI’s sentiments regarding the decision to withhold the award for principal Ramakrishna. He stated, “I believe the committee overseeing the award to Ramakrishna overlooked a particular issue. After discovering the issue yesterday, we have temporarily put the award on hold. We will clarify the situation and provide an update. I have instructed them to re-evaluate and then report to us. The concern is the way he treated the students.” (Ramakrishna upheld college rules by preventing Muslim girls from wearing the Hijab, demonstrating his integrity. It is evident that such teachers are disliked by the Congress Government – Editor).

Ramakrishna had enforced Hijab ban in the college

In December 2021, a ban on wearing Hijabs was enforced at the Government college in Udupi. In February 2022, 28 students wearing Hijabs were denied entry to the college. After the case reached the Karnataka High Court, the Court rejected the petitions of the Muslim students, stating that ‘the Hijab is not an essential religious practice in Islam.’ At that time, B G Ramakrishna was the principal of the college. The SDPI, still resentful of the ban, pressured the Government to prevent Ramakrishna from receiving the award.

Editorial Perspectives

  • The Congress party, which hesitates to give the ‘Best Principal Award’ to a principal based on the demands of a political wing of a terrorist organisation that is banned in India, will not hesitate in the future to declare Karnataka an ‘Islamic State’ and impose Sharia law based on the demands of Muslims.
  • It would not be surprising if Islamisation of education happens In the State under Congress Government.
