Statement by a Pakistani MP while resigning over the situation in Balochistan
Islamabad (Pakistan) – In view of the situation in Balochistan, Pakistan’s MP Sardar Akhtar Mengal, resigned from the Pakistani Parliament. He is the chief of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal. He accused that Pakistan has been neglecting the turbulent Balochistan Province.
The 61-year-old MP was elected from his native constituency, Khuzdar, in the Parliamentary elections held 6 months ago. He resigned in the wake of rising tension due to attacks and disappearance of several people in the past few months in Balochistan. His resignation has not been accepted yet.
Mengal added,
1. Today, I have decided to speak on the issue of Balochistan but no one is interested.
2. Balochistan is not on its way to disintegration, it has already got disintegrated.
3. We must show solidarity on the problem of so many lost lives in Balochistan.
4. Whenever this problem is raised, it is suppressed. If my words are wrong, I am ready to accept any punishment.
5. If you want to kill me outside the Parliament, do so. At least lend me an ear. We belong to no one, and no one listens to us.
