He advised her to return but not to push the country into anarchy. He also suggested her to rebuild her party with new faces.

Muhammad Yunus visits Dhakeshwari Temple

The head of the interim Government, Muhammad Yunus, visited the Dhakeshwari Temple in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh on the morning of 13thAugust 2024. He had discussions with the Hindu community. At the same time, a delegation of five members from the ‘Minority Rights Movement’ organisation met Muhammad Yunus and submitted a memorandum with eight demands. Yunus stated, “We want to build a Bangladesh that is like a family, where discrimination and conflict would not exist. We are all the people of Bangladesh and we should ensure that all of us can live together in peace. The law is equal for everyone, and discrimination in society must be corrected. The root cause of this discriminatory mindset must be eradicated. There should be one law and one Constitution for all citizens of the country.”

Editorial Perspective

  • Can the interim Government guarantee the safety of Sheikh Hasina if she returned to Bangladesh ? Can its guarantee be trusted
  • If there should be no discrimination, Muhammad Yunus should take stern action against those who attacked Hindus and take measures for the protection of Hindus.
