Washington (US) – “India will never be a formal ally or partner of the United States as it is also a great power with its own beliefs, its own interests. But the two can act as allies on the global stage,” stated US’ Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell. He was answering senator James Risch’s questions about PM Modi’s recent Moscow visit. Campbell added that there is a possibility that PM Modi shall visit Kyiv, Ukraine’s Capital, at the end of the month.
Kurt Campbell went on to say that there are very few countries in the world that have appealed for the ‘Global South’. India’s potential in the Global South is unparalleled. (Global South means countries in South and Central America, countries in Africa, countries in the Indian subcontinent, countries in the Gulf, China, etc.) We also want to work with Africa. In that sense, it is the most important thing for the US. I believe most people in India want good relations with the US. They are grateful for our bilateral relations. They love the work we do together in education and technology.
Editorial Perspective
The US wants relation with India for its own benefit. But it has been shielding Khalistani terrorists who are engaged in anti-India activities. This shows the US’ hypocrisy ! |
