Canberra (Australia) – Dr Michael Freeman, Skin specialist at Australia’s Bond University, has claimed that research has indicated that the blue light of the cell phone is harmful for the skin. It makes the skin colour lighter and this can cause serious damage to the skin.

The study shows :

1. The blue light is part of the spectrum of light that is visible. Sunlight is its largest source. There is more energy in it than the red and yellow light. Mobiles, laptops, televisions and other electronic appliances emit blue light. But their levels are 100 to 1000 times lower. We use these appliances for long periods and so they can affect our health, our eyes and sleep.

2. Exposure to blue light can increase the production of melanin. This is a natural pigment that gives colour to the skin. More blue light increases the danger of darkening the skin colour. More production of melanin means creation of dark spots on the skin. Especially the dark complexioned people can get dark spots.
