Digital catalogue of Deity’s jewels to be created

Puri (Odisha) – The Ratna Bhandar of the world-famous Jagannath temple was opened on 14thJuly at 1:28 p.m. On this occasion, 11 people including representatives of the Government, officials of the Archaeological Survey of India and representatives of Shri Gajapati Maharaj were present. The Ratna Bhandar was last opened in 1978 in the past.
1. The Government has decided to make a digital catalogue of precious items in the Ratna Bhandar. It will have the details of their weight and type etc.
2. Superintendent of Archaeological Survey of India D B Gadnayak said engineers will survey the Ratna Bhandar.
3. Justice Vishwanath Rath, Chairman of the committee set up by the State Government to keep track of the valuables in the vault, said that Aurobinda Padhi, Chief Temple
4. They are keeping the jewellery in 6 wooden vaults. The vaults are so heavy that each safe requires 8-10 persons to lift.
