Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) – Devotees from all over the world come to the Kashi Vishwanath temple. A large police force has been deployed in the entire temple area for their security. Recently, the Varanasi Police Commissioner has changed the attire of the police stationed in the garbhagriha of the Kashi Vishwanath temple. According to the new order, policemen stationed at garbhagriha will wear saffron dhoti-kurta and rudraksha-mala, along with tripund on the forehead, like priests, while women police personnel will be in saffron salwar-kurta. The decision of the Police Commissioner has been criticized by many including former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, while others have supported it.
There is a record increase in the number of devotees in the Kashi Vishwanath temple. In such a situation, there were often complaints of abuse or harassment. Therefore, a different type of police presence was needed in the temple. Under that, police have been deployed in the garbhagriha of Kashi Vishwanath temple in the guise of priests. Apart from this, a ‘touch policy’ has also been implemented in the temple, under which the police will not push or touch the devotees to move forward in the queue.
Support from astrologers
About this dress, astrologer Pandit Shashi Shekhar Tripathi said that this is the right decision. Astrologically police is associated with the brute principle of Mars, while the temple and the temple environment represent the god Brihaspati (Guru). Guru is associated with religion and spirituality. Dressing as a priest will help increase the Guru principles reducing the brute Mars principles, which is good. Guru’s dominance should be more in religious places.
