Satara – Section 36 has been enforced from 24th January to 9th February on the occasion of Shri Kalubai Mandhardevi Yatra at Mandhardev, District Satara. Superintendent of Police Sameer Shaikh informed that animal sacrifice and playing musical instruments have been prohibited. (Would Police Officer Shaikh enforce this article during the festivals of other religions ? Will he prohibit animal sacrifice during Bakri Eid ? – Editor).
Sameer Shaikh further said that, in exercising the power under Section 36 of the Bombay Police Act, 1951, these powers have been conferred on all concerned Police officers and Senior Police officers appointed to maintain law and order. These powers are conferred to maintain the public’s health, safety, law and order within the Police station precincts.
