Spreading Christianity is not the job of US President : Vivek Ramaswamy

Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy’s reply to the question, ‘How can a Hindu become US President ?’

Washington (US) – Vivek Ramaswamy, an individual of Indian origin and the current Republican Party presidential candidate in the United States, made a bold statement asserting that it is not within the purview of the US President to spread Christianity. When posed with the question during a programme, where he was asked, “What do you say to those who say to you that you cannot be our president because your religion is not what our founding fathers based our country on,” Ramaswamy responded with the aforementioned statement.

Ramaswamy further said, “I respectfully disagree with this. Based on my religious beliefs, I understand that every person is here for a purpose and it is our moral obligation to realise that purpose because God resides within each of us, even though God works through us in different ways but we are all equal. I would not be the best President to spread Christianity but this is not the job of the US President either. I will stand by the values that US was founded on. I said I am a Hindu. I could fake convert; I am not going to do that. I cannot lie for my political career”.

Regarding Hindu Dharma and Christianity, Ramaswamy further said, “We share the same value set in common. I went to a Christian school. I was taught the same things at school which I learned at home. I had a very traditional upbringing. My parents taught me that family is the foundation of life, marriage is the most sacred relationship and divorce can never be a solution. I have been taught that good things in life involve sacrifice. Judaism and Christianity share these same values.”
