Srinagar (J&K) – A Hindu student studying in NIT Srinagar has been accused of allegedly making objectionable content about Prophet Mohammad. In response, Muslim students protested in the university campus on 28th November. Slogans such as ‘Labbaik ya Rasool Allah’ (Allah, we are present for you) and ‘Allah-hu-Akbar’ (Allah is great) were raised. The protest was also broadcast through social media accounts of Hamas supporters, as well as those with ‘profile photos’ of Pakistani cricketers. As a result, the Police have registered a case against the accused student. The University Administration has taken strict action against the accused student by barring him for all upcoming semester exams and have rusticated him.

According to the reports, the concerned accused Hindu student circulated an allegedly offensive video on the status of his WhatsApp and Instagram accounts with reference to Prophet Mohammad. However, many have claimed that this video is from the son of the founder of Hamas.

It is stated that the radical Muslim students in Srinagar are furious with the accused student not only because he broadcast the above video, but also because his girlfriend is a Muslim.

If someone thinks that this is the result of “excessive tolerance of Hindus” and if one thinks of becoming aggressive like the Muslims, who would the Indian Administration hold responsible ?
