Mathura (UP) – Scientific survey of the Gyanvapi premises in Varanasi is currently going on. A petition has been filed in Supreme Court demanding survey of Shrikrushna Janmabhoomi of Mathura in a similar fashion. This petition has been filed by ‘Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mukti Nirman Trust’. Through the petition, the trust claims that Hindus have the right over the alleged Shahi Eidgah mosque. This mosque was built by demolishing Hindu temples.

Ashutosh Pandey, President of ‘Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mukti Nirman Trust’, alleged that organisations like Shahi Eidgah Management Committee are damaging this property. Shahi Eidgah mosque cannot be considered as a ‘mosque’. After surveying this area, it can be precisely concluded whose claim is 100% correct. This kind of survey can help in comprehending the history of the disputed land and realise its religious significance. Ashutosh Pandey is also President of the organisation called ‘Siddhapeeth Mata Shakumbhari Peethadhishwar Bhriguvanshi’.

At present, in Mathura, Shrikrushna Temple and Eidgah mosque are near each other and both are open for worship but Hindus believe that Eidgah mosque is birthplace of Deity Krishna. Accordingly, Hindus have filed this petition.

Editorial Viewpoints

It is a shame for Hindus that they have to fight for centuries to get rights over the ancient Hindu temples. Even after obtaining all these temples through democratic means in future, do Hindus have any long-term plan to protect them ? It is equally necessary for Hindus to build an independent and competent system to protect the temples without depending on the Government.
