Kabul (Afghanistan) – ‘The border between Pakistan and Afghanistan is an imaginary line. Border issue will be raised when Afghan citizens want to raise it. For the time being, there is no need for any war’, said Maulavi (religious leader of Islam) Yaqub Mujahid, Taliban’s Defence Minister and son of Taliban founder Mullah Omar.
130 years ago, the Britishers had fixed the border line between Pakistan and Afghanistan by the name of ‘Durand Line’. The Taliban is refusing to accept it. In 2021, Talibani soldiers had stopped the Pakistan Army from erecting a barbed wire fence along the border. The Taliban has dominance in the Pashtun region of Pakistan.
Senior Pakistani journalist Ilyas Khan said that, ‘The Taliban is in no mood to back down on the Durand Line issue. Hence, Pakistan cannot trust Taliban’s diplomacy. Taliban, which has defeated superpowers like Russia and the US in the past, will not hesitate to use its might against Pakistan.
