Remains of Narayaneshwar temple found near Badi Dargah in Pune

Shivalinga found in Sangamwadi riverbed

(A Dargah is a structure built around a Muslim’s grave)

Pune (Maharashtra) – History scholars have claimed that the remains of the Narayaneshwar temple were found during cleaning at the place where Badi Dargah is located near the riverbed in Pune. Pune Municipal Corporation is currently working on a river improvement project here. While the work is underway, a British-era pistol along with Mahadev’s Shivalinga has been found in the Sangamwadi riverbed. After this historical Shivalinga was found, it has been handed over to the Department of Archaeology. Both Badi Dargah and Chhoti Dargah locations are said to have Puneshwar and Narayaneshwar temples.

Historian Nandkishor Ekbote said the steps to the entrance of the Narayaneshwar temple, the central gateway, the carved arch, and the Samadhi site have been found. The area surrounding the Samadhi leads to archaeological remains. Sanitation workers have stopped the work due to the discovery of ancient remains there.

On 3rd April, the workers saw big snakes at that place. Now that the remains of the Narayaneshwar temple have been found there, everyone is of the opinion that this place should be protected.

Editorial Viewpoint

Hindus had claimed that the Dargah was built by demolishing the Narayaneshwar Temple. It is confirmed by these remains of the Temple. It is necessary to immediately study all these remains and bring forth the truth of Badi Dargah to society !
