BJP Government in Karnataka abolishes the 4% reservation given to OBC Muslims

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – The BJP Government in Karnataka has scrapped the 4% reservation given for OBC Muslims. Also now this reservation is divided into two communities, i.e., Vokkaliga and Lingayat. Due to this, the quota of Vokkaliga has been increased from 5% to 7%. Also, the quota for Panchamasali, Veerashaiva, and other Lingayat categories has also been increased from 5% to 7%. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai made this announcement.

The Muslims who were till now reserved under the OBC quota are now placed in the economically weaker section. For the 10% weaker section quota, Muslims will now have to share the reservation among Brahmins, Vaishyas, Mudaliars, Jains, and other communities.
