Tirupattur (TN) – The District Collector of Tirupattur has ordered beef biryani not to be included in the food festival at Ambur, Tamil Nadu. Thus, the Tamil Nadu Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Commission is tormented by it. According to the Commission, the non-inclusion of beef biryani in the Government’s program constitutes discrimination. Collector Amar Kushwaha has received a show cause notice from the Commission.

This food festival was to be held in the month of May. But there was a controversy about this. The District Administration had postponed the event citing rain forecast.

Editorial viewpoint

Gomata is revered by Hindus. The inclusion of beef biryani in the Government food festival would hurt Hindu religious sentiments.
