Remove all encroachments from Shahid Chandrasekhar Azad Park at Prayagraj : Allahabad High Court

Mazar and mosques also to be demolished

  • Was the administration asleep until the park was encroached upon ? Why go to Court to demand the removal of such encroachments ? Why can’t the administration do it ? Strict action should be taken against such idle and inactive people in the administration.
  • Was the administration meek as there were Muslim encroachments ? Had there been a legal temple here, Hindus feel that even then the administration would have demolished it immediately.

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) – The Allahabad High Court has ordered the removal of all encroachments at Shahid Chandrashekhar Azad Park in Prayagraj. They also include a mosque and a mazar (Samadhi of an Islamic Pir or Fakir). All construction in the park after 1975 are illegal and should be demolished. A report on the execution of this order should be submitted to the court by 8th October, ordered the Court. In its ruling, the Court said that the park should be free of all encroachments.

Jitendra Singh had filed a petition in this regard. It was alleged in the petition that an attempt was made to grab the site by constructing artificial graves. The spokesperson of the ‘Hindu Front for Justice’ and a devout Hindu advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain argued in Court on behalf of Singh. The park also has a gymkhana club. It is the responsibility of the sports department. That will also have to be removed.
