Ideal governance of Prabhu Shriram and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will have to be established ! : Adv. Nilesh Sangolkar

  • We have to be alert and know our rights to fight lawfully if we want to have ideal governance ! (Special Online Webinar)

Adv. Nilesh Sangolkar“It is 74 years since we became independent and we adopted Democracy, but the condition of our country has become pitiable and weak. Immoral behaviour has increased and our country is now known for corruption and many other ills. Every citizen has to go through some harassment or the other. No field in this country is without corruption. Famous economist Angus Maddison had said that India’s GDP was the highest before Independence. Before the Mughal and British invasions, our’s was known as a developed country.

Now, however, we see failure of Democracy. We have to be alert and know our rights to fight lawfully if we want to have ideal governance. We will have to establish ideal governance as existed during the times of Prabhu Shriram and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj”, said Advocate Nilesh Sangolkar (Coordinator of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti’s ‘Surajya’ Movement). He was speaking in a special Online programme organised by ‘Arogya Sahayya Samiti’ and ‘Surajya Abhiyan’ on ‘Let us move from ‘Swarajya (own governance)’ towards ‘Surajya (good governance)’.

Mr. Narendra Surve (Spokesperson of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti [HJS]) explained why good governance was not getting established after Independence. He said, “The ‘Gurukul’ education system existed before Independence; where, along with other education, children were taught moral values such as patriotism, importance of performing one’s duty righteously, helping others etc. However, our native education system has not been adopted even after 74 years of Independence.

In the existing Macaulay’s education system adopted by our country, people get educated but not cultured. Therefore, people who have earned a good name in their fields such as Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) or as doctors, advocates, etc, are looting ordinary citizens through corrupt practices. People in India have no fear of law. People do not get justice at either Police stations or even after making the rounds of Courts. Corrupt leaders and immoral film artists are the ideals of today’s young generation. It is necessary to bring about a change in these conditions and have unity amongst ourselves for establishing good governance”.

Mrs. Gauri Kulkarni (Representative of ‘Sanatan Prabhat’ Periodicals) said that social media are a very powerful medium of communication. These should have a policy in place so that they work in the national interests and social welfare; so also, they should work towards finding solutions to the existing problems rather than only highlighting problems. With such policies, the field of journalism can also contribute to the establishment of good governance. Every journalist should have Lokmanya Tilak’s nationalistic journalism as their ideal.
