A ‘live-in-relationship’ between a married and an unmarried person is not permissible : Rajasthan High Court

Western culture accepts ‘live-in-relationship’. If anyone in India is imitating this culture, then it should be considered as a crime. The Government’s perspective should be of putting in efforts to conserve the Indian culture.

Jaipur (Rajasthan) – A Married and an unmarried person cannot be in a ‘live-in-relationship’, ordered the Rajasthan High Court during a hearing of an IPL. A 29-year-old unmarried girl and a 31-year-old married man had filed an IPL asking for protection from their family members.

The High Court, while citing a judgement of the Supreme Court, stated that the lover couple In a ‘live-in-relationship’ should not be just able to live as husband and wife, but they should also be in a position to get married. Such eligibility cannot exist between a married and an unmarried person.
